A Scientific Approach to Project Prioritisation within Local Government

This webinar will look as some of the complex considerations that local governments must consider in the development of their 10-year, and beyond, capital works program. These complicated factors include but are not limited to the 4-year political term, asset renewals and sustainable asset management planning, legislated Local Government Infrastructure Projects (LGI)P, strategic projects, type and scale of projects, various planning horizons, subjective benefits and benefits realisation, and divisional implications for Councils that have wards.

Redland City Council will be presenting the scientific method used to assist in the prioritisation of projects recorded within their 10-year capital works program to present to Council the highest priority projects that are shovel ready for delivery over the next financial year. The presentation will include an overview of how this will be influenced by Council’s move to a three (3) year budgeting process for program and project delivery.
