Professor Michael Milford

Director of the QUT Robotics Centre

Professor Milford conducts interdisciplinary research at the boundary between robotics, neuroscience, computer vision and machine learning, to develop new technologies such as all-weather, anytime positioning for autonomous vehicles. From 2022 – 2027 he is leading a large research team combining bio-inspired and computer science-based approaches to provide a ubiquitous alternative to GPS that does not rely on satellites. He currently holds the position of Director of the QUT Centre for Robotics, Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow, Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, and is a Microsoft Research Faculty Fellow and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

 

Aditya Shankar

Project Coordinator and Analyst at the University of Newcastle

Aditya Shankar is a Project Coordinator – Analyst at the University of Newcastle, with a focus on data-informed decision-making, process improvement, and digital transformation. He supports initiatives within the Academic Excellence division, using data analytics and project management tools to enhance performance and support effective delivery. With experience in analytics, change management, automation, and workforce planning, Aditya combines strategic insight with practical expertise. In his session, "AI and Decision Making for Project Managers", he explores how AI can support faster, smarter, and more ethical decisions across the project lifecycle — turning insight into impact.

Senior Lecturer at the School of Systems & Computing, UNSW Canberra and Artificial Intelligence Community of Practice Lead at the AIPM

Dr Ripon K. Chakrabortty is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Systems & Computing, UNSW Canberra, Australia. He is experienced in “Artificial Intelligence in Decision-Making for Complex Systems”. His research interests include decision analytics, applied artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, and applied optimisation in the "Project Scheduling and Supply Chain Management" domains. He is the team leader and founder of ‘The Decision Support & Analytics Research Group’. Also, he leads the ‘Artificial Intelligence’ Community of Practice at the Australian Institute of Project Management. He has written three authored books, six book chapters, and over 180 technical journal and conference papers in prestigious venues. Many organisations have funded his research programs valued at over $4.5 million, such as the Australian Research Council, the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, the Department of Education, Defence Trailblazer, and the Commonwealth Government of Australia.
